Christie Tyler: Five favourite items

Our most recent insight features friend of Fourth St, Christie Tyler. Christie's instagram @nycbambi has long served as a constant source of inspiration. Initially drawn to Christie's minimal interiors and aesthetic, we have grown to meet and value the intelligent, thoughtful and authentic force that is Christie Tyler. Her home echoes these values. Whether old or new, each item holds meaning and has a story. Christie invites us in to her New York apartment to share with us five of her favourite items and why.

Christie is seen wearing the Olive Sarong by Fourth St throughout.

MONSTERA PLANT

Since lockdown, I've been craving greenery inside of our home. We went on a huge plant run and this Monstera has been giving me so much joy. The leaves are so luscious and in the late afternoon the sun hits it perfectly, creating beautiful shadows and light. It's been so nice to watch the leaves grow and honestly it's just a source of happiness every time we water it; I love seeing the droplets on the leaves.

BRASS CANDLESTICKS

I was looking for a way to decorate the inside of our "makeshift" fireplace, since obviously it was not possible for us to have a working fireplace in our apartment. These brass candle holders and black candlesticks were exactly what I was looking for. I wanted candle holders of different heights so there is some dimension and I love the moodiness the black candlesticks give off once they are lit. It is so romantic and I can't wait to have a beautiful dinner in the winter with our candles flickering in the background.

AKARI LAMP

This was a gift from Adam for Christmas last year and it makes me so happy, I love the serenity it gives off. It is one of my favorite pieces in our home and it means even more knowing it was a gift from him.

VINTAGE STOOL

This stool was a gift from a vintage homewares shop and I've fallen in love with it. I love the worn-in wood and legs and it goes with our mid century vibe. Plus it's perfect to set your feet upon after a long day.

ARTWORK BY HANNAH POLSKIN

This was another meaningful gift, this time from my mom for my birthday last year. My birthday was right when we finished renovating our place and I was constantly on the search for art pieces for our blank walls. My mom, without me knowing, went on my Instagram and searched through the artists I followed and reached out to Hannah to make an artwork for me. It was such a sweet and thoughtful surprise. This artwork will definitely be in every single one of our homes to come.
